LETTER REGARDING MEAL SELECTION
24th January 2025
Dear Parent and Carers,
Under the Mayor of London's cost of living support, all children from Reception to Year 6 are entitled to receive free school meals. Chestnut Park are pleased to be introducing a new pre-order form so that families can get more involved in their children’s lunch selection.
Why should I pre-order a lunch selection?
- It ensures your child gets their preferred choice of school meal every day
- You can view daily menu information, along with Allergen and Nutritional information to help you make a choice for your child
- It creates a nicer atmosphere in our school canteen as pupils do not have the uncertainty of what to select for lunch
- It helps our kitchen know what to prepare and therefore minimises food waste
What will be new?
- You will pre-select school lunches for each weekday via a School Lunch Google Form for Weeks 1, 2 and 3 of the Chartwells Menu
- -A google form will be sent to you on Wednesday 29th January 2025 for you to pre-select your children’s meals
- From 24th February 2025 the children will start receiving their pre-selected meals
- In you have not pre-selected your child’s meals, your child will be served the jacket potato or pasta option
- You will have to do the Google Form only once every half term
- A visual menu will also be available if required, to help you make a meal selection and be aware of the ingredients your child may be allergic to or chooses not to eat.
When will the new School Lunch Google form be introduced?
Over the next 2 weeks, Parents/Carers will receive an email from the school with further information and inviting you to click on a Google Form which will have all the daily menu lunch items. If you need any assistance with the Google form, please come to the school where staff will be more than happy to help you.
Managing Special Diets – Information for Parents and Carers
If your child has an allergy that requires them to go onto the special Chartwell’s medical diet, please speak to Mrs Emily Kirkpatrick in the school office.
In the meantime, should you need any further information, please contact enquiries@chestnutparkschool.org or feel free to speak to members of staff on the school gates.
Thank you for your support during this transition.
Yours sincerely,
Rachel Jacob Sarah Rumbol
Executive Headteacher Head of School
***Please note that due to the conflict with Russia and Ukraine, there may be a disruption to the supply chain, therefore the menu is subject to change.***
Please see the newsletter from Chartwells regarding Spring menus. There is a booklet all about school meals and a poster about a special menu day in January
A Healthy Lunchbox
If you choose for your child to have a packed lunch, please ensure it is a healthy lunchbox with food that creates a balanced diet. No chocolates or nuts should be included.
Please ensure that your child's lunchbox is clearly labelled with their name and class.
- Snacks such as crisps should not be included (unless they are healthy crisps). Instead, include vegetables and fruit (with no added salt, sugar or fat). Savoury crackers or breadsticks served with fruit, vegetables or dairy food are also a good choice.
- Confectionery such as chocolate bars, chocolate-coated biscuits and sweets should not be included. Cakes and biscuits are allowed but these should be part of a balanced meal.
- Starchy food, such as bread or pasta, rice, couscous, noodles, potatoes or other cereals, should be included every day.
