Dr Anna Simmonds

Chair of SSB

I have been Chair of the SSB at Chestnut Park since January 2016. I became a governor because I wanted to use my skills to support the school in helping all children reach their potential. I love being involved with Chestnut Park and am proud of all that's been achieved since opening in 2015.

I currently work for the Prevent Team and previously work for Croydon Council as an intelligence analyst in Children's Social Care. Prior to that I spent eight years as a neuroscientist at Imperial College London, conducting research into the neuro science of foreign language learning. Before that I worked as a languages teacher in West Sussex, Hampshire and Kent.

Julie Harris

Vice Chair of Governors

My name is Julie Harris and I am Chestnut Park’s vice chair of the SSB. I am really proud to be involved with the development of this fantastic school and to be working with the team of highly professional staff and governors who are determined to ensure the best possible outcomes for our pupils – your children.

I am passionate about education and believe that, with hard work and the right support, dreams can become a reality. I have been a successful headteacher of three Croydon schools and, although now retired, am very pleased to be able to offer my skills and experience as a member of the SSB at Chestnut Park.

On a personal level, I have two grown up sons and five grandchildren who keep us very busy. Inevitably, with a life time of involvement in schools, I am interested in our grandchildren’s educational experiences and support whenever needed. I always tell our grandchildren they can be whatever they want to be and this is a message I believe to be universally true. But, with a small codicile, they need to work hard, be commited to their goal, be supported by excellent teachers and be guided by their family and not pulled off course by their friends!!

With that thought, I am looking forward to working in parnership to make dreams a reality.

I have been an SSB member since 2015. My professional job is providing good and outstanding educational buildings. I have a particular interest in Health & Safety. I became an SSB member to help the School provide an excellent learning environment, ensuring that they are safe.

I love sports when I was in school and I still do
